THE WYLD at the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin

The Wyld is the latest mega show in Berlin. This summer if you happen to be at the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin, you are sure to be transported to a bizarre but fantastic world peopled with all sorts of life. The show is described as a love letter to Berlin. All sorts of life forms - including aliens and ancient celebrities like Nefertiti - walk the magnificent stage loving the wonderful city of Berlin.

This mega production is the result of a joint venture of Manfred Thierry Mugler, who is famous for his fashion ideas and the reputed perfume ‘Thierry Mugler’ and Roland Welke, the world famous show producer of Europe. The show is budgeted on a whopping ten million Euros. But when you see it, you will come to know where all the money has gone. This is said to be the grandest show in the 95 year old history of the Friedrichstadt-Palast. The magnificent artistry combined with the most aesthetic set creation makes the drama spectacular in every sense.

The specialty of the show is that it does not have a continuous story line. It is more or less a mosaic of various threads of story. There are aliens floating through the stage, a lady with many poodles living at the top of a TV tower, personalities from ancient history and ethereal beauties gliding through the air. All these characters express their love for the city of Berlin.

The uniqueness of the show is not in its bizarre story but the special effects and modern techniques used by the technicians to provide the audience with the once-in-a-lifetime experience. There are 100 extremely talented artists – singers, dancers and musicians - performing on the stage. The costumes are out of this world. The lighting and various special effects accentuates the dazzling effect of the costumes.

It goes without saying that the Friedrichstadt-Palast has the biggest stage in Europe and all the state-of-the-art facilities to stage the most modern productions. The Wyld has taken full advantage of the stage and its facilities to present an elaborate show in Berlin. The media has declared it as ‘the most elaborate show outside Las Vegas’. ‘Las Vegas in Berlin’ - was the comment of Sunday times about the show.

The choreographies of the performances are incredibly apt for the characters represented on stage. The music is exhilarating. There are many acrobatic and circus like performances which will keep the audience enthralled for the 2½ hours. The Wyld at Friedrichstadt - Palast is the kind of show that should never be missed if you can help it.
